New Haven Livable City Initiative to Provide Housing Assistance through Energy Efficiency Rehabilitation Program - Orientations Begin Next Week
(6/10/2010) (NEW HAVEN)- The City’s Livable City Initiative (LCI) encourages residents to apply for financial assistance through the Energy Efficiency Rehabilitation Program (EERAP). The EERAP program assists residents with costs related to housing energy efficiency improvements and rehabilitation for the purpose of providing safe, decent and energy efficient living conditions. Only residential properties of 1-4 units located in the City of New Haven are eligible. Assistance is provided in the form of forgivable loans. Household income must not exceed 120% of the median family income for the New Haven/Meridian MSA, as adjusted for family. For a family of four, the household income must not exceed $96,240.
Participating homeowners must also complete a Homeowner Counseling Workshop from Financial Empowerment Workshops, LLC, contracted by the City of New Haven at no cost to the homeowner.
LCI will be hosting two information sessions to explain program requirements, the application process, and details of EERAP. The orientations will be held as follows:

In addition to owner-occupants, this program is also open to property owners’ of 1-4 buildings but the form of assistance will be a low interest loan.
